Junior Handler Grant

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Oregon Junior Handler Grant Description:

One or more German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Oregon (GSPCO) Junior Handler Grants may be awarded annually (total maximum of $500) to enable junior club members to participate in AKC Events with a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP).

Selection Criteria:
Applicant’s involvement in GSPCO Club Events
Applicant’s Academic Achievements and Potential
Applicant’s ability to be a good ambassador for the breed
Eligibility:
Family must be members in good standing of GSPCO for a minimum of 1 year and be current with dues.
Juniors must volunteer at club events for a minimum of 8 hours during that Grant year.  Proof of hours must be submitted in writing.  All hours must list number of hours and GSPCO event name and date, and have a supervising club member sign to verify hours.
Period of Award:
The grant will be awarded for the calendar year of January to December. Applications must be submitted by November 1st of each year.  Grants will be awarded at the annual awards banquet in January of each year.
Grant Use:
The funds must be used for entry fees, special clothing, needed equipment, transportation or lodging needed to participate with a GSP in AKC Events.

3. Obedience, Agility
4. Hunt Tests
5.  Any other AKC events that allow GSP’s to compete

Selection:
The grant committee will review all applications and may interview finalists. The committee will present their recommendations at the annual club meeting in November.
